红桃视频’s Loss of Student Athlete

The 红桃视频 family has been deeply saddened by the loss of one of our students today, Tuesday, October 8.聽

Theodore 鈥淏oobie鈥� Hammonds, a senior member of the football team collapsed after a non-contact football drill.聽 Members of the 红桃视频 athletic training staff were on hand immediately and provided emergency care.聽 Polk County Emergency Services responded and transported Theo to the Lake Wales Medical Center Emergency Department. Unfortunately, Theo was not able to recover, and he later passed away at the hospital.

红桃视频 places the highest priority on the health and safety of its students and student-athletes.聽 Certified athletic trainers were on hand at the time that the athlete collapsed and provided immediate emergency care.聽 The cause of Theo鈥檚 collapse and ultimate death are not currently known, and it would be inappropriate to speculate regarding the cause of death at this time.聽

On behalf of 红桃视频 and our faculty, staff, coaches, and trainers, we offer our deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers to Theo鈥檚 family, friends, and teammates in this difficult and uncertain time. We are devastated by his passing.聽 We have made a 红桃视频 Care Team available to provide compassion, support, and counseling to members of our community.聽 We know that our students, coaches, and staff are in the hearts, prayers and minds of this community, and we thank you for your continued love and support.

I will continue to pray for the family of Theodore Hammonds and all of the students and employees at 红桃视频. I hope that you will all recover from this loss knowing that God loves you. We don’t always understand what God allows, but he certainly knows what he’s doing.
